You love your dog, and you want to enjoy more fun and freedom together.
And, you want to do this using love and respect, instead of old-school methods that rely on force, make you feel guilty, and are as unnecessary as they are obsolete.
But sometimes, when you’re in the middle of it… you wonder if that’s really possible, or if it’s just a pipe dream.
That’s why I do what I do.
I grew up on a farm, so working with animals was a part of my daily routine.
In my childhood fantasies, I always had the ability to talk to the animals around me…especially the dogs.
I read everything about dogs I could get my hands on. I was obsessed with stories like Lassie and Where the Red Fern Grows. Then one day, browsing in a used bookstore, I found a book about dog psychology. I was hooked.
Then, Friskies cat treats ran a promotion where you could get a “cat training kit” that included a clicker and instructions if you collected enough stamps from the boxes. So, I used my allowance to buy lots of cat treats.
Once I had the kit, I got started with the barn cats. Then the chickens, rabbits, cows, goats…and of course the dogs.
Alongside working with dogs, I was fascinated by human psychology, especially cultural difference. I worked as an international consultant and designed intercultural training projects for enterprise companies like Bosch, Fluor, Michelin, and Kawasaki, and wrote and delivered curriculum for Clemson University.
All in all, I worked with clients from 60+ countries, spent a lot of time living and/or working in Germany, Brazil, and the UK. I speak fluent Portuguese.
But dogs have always held my heart, and I never wandered too far from that.
I’ve done A LOT with dogs!

I’m an Internationally Certified Canine Behaviorist, and there are less than 300 professionals with equivalent certification worldwide.

I’ve worked as a K9 Handler for Wilderness Search and Rescue. (When you depend on your dog to save human lives, you learn to build a different kind of trust!)

I’ve worked in Animal Assisted Therapy and seen how my dogs’ wisdom and intuition had the power to transform human suffering.

I’ve rehabilitated dogs with severe aggression and fear issues. In fact, this is my specialization!

I’ve worked as a chairwoman in a dog rescue organization.

I’ve trained, competed, and titled in a variety of performance dog sports.

Here’s what I love to do with my dogs, now:
Day to day, my dogs and I enjoy plenty of adventures together.
I like to eat at sidewalk cafes, and my pups hang out with me and watch the people go by.
We love to hike, travel, and explore new places.
We even go kayaking together.
Each dog I’ve been privileged to share my journey with has taught me so many incredible lessons. I learn more from them every day.
I’ve seen all sides of it now, and I know that true connection is possible.
More is possible for you and your dog, too.
Curious About My Four-Footed Life Companions?
Meet My Dogs
INCA:
URO1 SIENDO’S INCA FCH CIC CHI TT CGC
SILKEN WINDHOUND
Inca is retired these days, but she hasn’t forgotten her life as my working dog. She’s always ready to go. She loves to stay busy and have new adventures, whether it’s a trip or just lunch downtown. Inca is my self-appointed canine caretaker. I call her my clock. She sees it as her life’s duty to supervise me and make sure I’m sticking to my schedule. If I’m working too much and need to take a break, she knows somehow, and she’s always the one to tell me. She’s mischievous, has a quirky sense of humor, and enjoys playing tricks. True to her breed, she loves to run, and she loves to work. We’ve done a lot of really incredible things together. In fact, Inca is the first of her breed to earn several titles, including Temperament Tested, Basic Herding Instinct, and UKC Rally Obedience. Inca has an other-worldly air about her, so I call her my Fairy Princess Dragon.
Hobbies: traveling, going downtown, kayaking, obsessing about cats, and taking long walks (very, very, VERY long walks).
MILLIE:
CAIRN TERRIER X WIREHAIR DACHSHUND
Millie is a joy. She loves toys and loves to play; she loves to go; she loves to learn. Overall, she’s an enthusiastic and cheerful little lady who meets life head-on. She amazes me with her enthusiasm to seize the day. There’s almost nothing she won’t do. One of her particularly unique skills is climbing trees…yes, she actually goes up trees (usually after squirrels or a bird she’s wanting to hunt). She’s not intimidated by much. She’s smart and eager and a blast to have around. She’s my constant companion because she always wants to go and she doesn’t care what we’re doing. She is also a fierce little protector. She has the heart of a lion in a tiny, snuggle-able package.
Hobbies: swimming and kayaking, playing tug, getting belly rubs, doing anything fun and active, chasing squirrels.
“
He is my other eyes that can see above the clouds; my other ears that hear above the winds. He is the part of me that can reach out into the sea…
He has taught me the meaning of devotion. With him, I know a secret comfort and a private peace. He has brought me understanding where before I was ignorant…
…His head on my knee can heal my human hurts. His presence by my side is protection against my fears of dark and unknown things.
He has promised to wait for me – whenever, wherever—in case I need him. And I expect I will, as I always have. He is my dog.”
